Why Should You Change The Way You Think?
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. ~ Albert Einstein

Navigating through life is not easy and you will be faced with different challenges as you progress. To continuously progress and improve, we must challenge our thinking.
We would be doing ourselves a disservice by assuming that our way of thinking is correct all of the time.
Taking influence from others and learning from others’ experiences will not only guard you from the heartache of making the same bad decisions but give you insight as to why those decisions are not the best.
Being willing to learn from other people, even those that you disagree with will make you more open-minded and adaptable as a whole.
Books to Change the Way You Think
We don’t have to agree with what everyone else says, our mind allows us to retain and forget information based on our determination of its value. These five books will change the way you think about goals and show you that your goals really aren’t that far from reach.
We forget that everyone that we admire had to start from somewhere and we often don’t get to see the mistakes and losses that they make.
What people that we admire do have in common is their persistence and their willingness to keep trying until they found something that worked, and that makes all the difference.
At some point in their journey, they had to change their thinking to a more productive mindset to keep going in spite of their losses.
No matter how you feel about the self-help genre as a whole, there are some gems in the midst of all of the debris.
Looking for a list of books to help you with communication, time management, and money skills? I got you! Just keep reading.

Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In by Roger Fisher, William Ury, and Bruce Patton
This lovely book is about communication, more specifically, negotiation. We fail to realize how many opportunities we have to negotiate. Being a good communicator requires good negotiation skills.
When first hearing the word negotiation, you may think of a formal meeting between business partners discussing a transaction. Yes, this is a common example, but you persuading your best friend to eat at your favorite restaurant is also a form of negotiation.
The whole purpose of negotiation is that both parties can end up with a result that is acceptable to both. It is a terrible feeling to be taken advantage of or bulldoze your way through conversations which results in you ruining relationships.
Being a good negotiator will allow you to get more of what you want while also preserving or even strengthening the relationships that you have with those that you care about.
The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape the 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss
This is a cult classic in the realm of productivity content and for good reason.
The title suggests that this book is intended to help you in terms of wealth, but I think that this book has had way more impact in terms opening our eyes to the possibilities that exist.
Many working-class people assume that they will be successful just by doing what their parents did and fall in line with the workforce. For those who may want more out of their work experience, this book exposes you to a world that you previously believed was unattainable.
This book causes you to reconsider how you are spending your time and how your time may be better spent to increase your quality of life.
The real-life scenarios that this book uses help the readers better visualize how the principles can be put into practice. It also shows a practical application of the change and encourages people to change their mindset.
Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear
This book has arguably carried the productivity industry on its back. If there was one book that has fueled the modern productivity craze, it is this one.
I think one of the many reasons that this book is attractive to many is because it does not make the reader the problem. The reader is not accused of failing because of laziness or lack of work ethic.
This book takes a practical approach to show why the systems that you use may not be consistent with your goals and how to change them.
Atomic Habits gives you power over the decisions that you make and it is helpful with motivation.
The Luck Factor: The Four Essential Principles by Richard Wiseman
I like this book because I did not grow up in a world where luck was a factor. In my head, it wasn’t something that you could attract or repulse.
Recently, The manifestation trend has come into full force. I don’t know if I can say that I believe in it, but I do believe that mindset has a role to play in your success. Richard Wiseman has come up with four principles that will help you strengthen your luck skill.
Being that Richard Wiseman is a professor, his approach is more science-based, which may be attractive to some of you. At the end of his studies, he concluded that luck was something worth studying and he is willing to teach it to you.
This book will certainly change the way you think about luck and reevaluate your thoughts to produce a more positive worldview.
Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! by Robert Kiyosaki
Rich Dad Poor Dad has got to be one of the most straightforward books ever written.
I have never read a book that made finance so simple.
The side-by-side comparison allows you to see the small differences in thinking that resulted in completely different lifestyles.
This book is most helpful in encouraging you to make different financial choices that will significantly impact your life. This is another mindset book that is effective in showing you how the amount of money that you make is not always a boundary to becoming wealthy.
Final Thoughts
These books are on my reading list for 2023. They all focus on the one thing that you can control, your mind. I think that these books will help you do a better job at making decisions that are beneficial in the long term and work on what you can change in the present to get you closer to your desired result.
